About the Role: MEEM are looking for an Ethical Trading Manager to drive our ambitious sustainability goals and uphold our commitment to being a fair and responsible brand. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, this role will lead industry-leading social and ethical programs, ensuring a customer-focused approach as we expand our product categories and supply base. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a growing business. Responsibilities: Ethical Trade & Social Compliance Oversee the supplier auditing program, ensuring compliance and addressing non-conformances. Conduct due diligence and risk assessments when onboarding new suppliers. Review and monitor audit reports, implementing corrective action plans with suppliers. Manage external partnerships, including our Sedex Ethical Trading Coordinator and Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) membership. Lead industry engagement, participating in ETI forums, events, and producing required reporting. Provide risk analysis and training on sourcing region challenges to internal teams. Develop and implement digital product passports for enhanced supply chain transparency. Keep product teams informed on supplier audit performance ahead of meetings and trips. Oversee PLM supply chain mapping, ensuring full transparency from Tier 1 to Tier 4 suppliers. Ensure compliance with global legislation, including the UK Modern Slavery Act, Uyghur Forced Labor Act, and EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Stay ahead of evolving regulations and prepare the business for upcoming legislative changes. Deliver training on ethical sourcing and best practices for internal teams. Manage and create ethical and social responsibility content for external channels (website, social media, press). Stay up to date on sustainability trends, implementing best practices across the business. Skills: Proven experience in ethical trade, social compliance, or sustainability within a retail or supply chain environment. Strong knowledge of ethical auditing frameworks, supplier compliance, and risk management. Familiarity with global human rights and sustainability legislation. Experience working with Sedex, ETI, and other ethical trade initiatives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and influence internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
