Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer

Calibre Search are working on behalf of an ambitious, rapidly expanding multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy. The company has been in operation for nearly 40 years and stands out from their competitors as a strong, independent company that understands where they have come from and where they are headed. They have multiple offices across the south of England and due to an increase in workload, they are looking to add a Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join their vibrant Bristol office.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct Flood Risk Assessments and prepare Drainage Strategies.
2. Design drainage schemes for residential and commercial developments.
3. Liaise directly with clients, council officers, and design team members such as Architects and Planning Consultants.
4. Provide clear and coherent advice via email, phone, and face-to-face meetings.
5. Prepare and assist with fee proposals, manage and lead projects.
6. Provide planning advice relevant to flood risk and drainage, including advice on masterplan layouts.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Experience in flood risk assessments and designing drainage schemes using MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage.
2. Preparation of Reports for planning applications including Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports.
3. Working knowledge of relevant planning and technical guidance such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance, and Building Regulations.
4. A full UK driver's license.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Experience of fluvial and pluvial flood risk modelling.
2. Preparation of S104 drainage designs to secure technical approval from relevant authorities.
3. Supervisory, leadership, and mentoring experience.
4. Ability to generate new business through industry contacts.
It would be beneficial if you are Chartered or working towards chartered status with ICE or IStructE and have had hands-on design experience and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
