Senior R&D Technologist Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom Salary: £45-55k DOE Key Responsibilities: Lead new product development (NPD) for a key global client, collaborating cross-functionally and with other company sites to drive product improvements and portfolio expansion. Ensure product design aligns with business objectives by delivering innovative solutions within project constraints. Manage NPD initiatives for strategic projects, including cost optimisation, regulatory compliance, and process improvements. Oversee HACCP/HARA sign-off and lead R&D audits. Some travel within EMEA, and occasionally beyond, to support customer needs. Engage with third parties, including suppliers and industry specialists, to stay updated on ingredient innovations, technologies, and regulatory changes. Provide technical support to customers through meetings, presentations, and written communication to enhance client relationships. Candidate Profile: Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related field. Hands-on development experience. Prior experience in customer-facing roles, ideally with Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs); additional expertise in coatings, seasonings, or sweet syrups is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Capable of independently managing projects and contributing to business growth. Proficiency in project and team management, including prioritisation and flexibility. Comfortable representing the company in customer meetings, product trials, and project updates. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and resolve conflicts in a dynamic environment. Understanding of the financial impact of product development decisions. Knowledge of the development process, from concept to plant trials, with the ability to apply technical expertise effectively. Commitment to maintaining company standards in administration, health & safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Full, clean UK driving licence required.
