The Department of Applied Computer Games, within the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University, is a dynamic and vibrant academic community with a strong track record in applied research, innovative teaching, and knowledge transfer activities. The department brings together a highly motivated and exciting team encompassing the academic areas of Games Design and Games Software Development, 3D Animation and Visualisation, and Digital Design. We have 17 academic staff and approximately 500 students enrolled in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational lecturer in 3D Animation/VFX/Games Art to contribute to the continued growth of our department. The primary purpose of this appointment is to play a leading role in our research and in the delivery and management of excellent learning and teaching of selected modules within our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The applicant should have the passion to champion the areas of 3D Animation and Visualisation for Games and VFX and be able to: contribute meaningfully to our consultancy and knowledge transfer activities; to expand our external collaboration networks for both research and teaching; to contribute to new and enhanced curricula and taught provision in areas relevant to Applied Computer Games; and to inspire current and future students.
Applicants should have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline and have completed a doctorate or be nearing completion of a doctorate in a relevant subject area. Applicants should have prior academic experience in teaching and learning, and substantial research experience in relevant subject areas. Experience of applied research or systems development, and a strong personal desire and commitment to engage in innovative teaching and research, grant funding applications and/or consultancy/CPD services are essential. Experience in relevant industry sectors will be highly regarded.
