Position Summary
Partners with the production and engineering leadership and assists in the coordination of various technical specialist duties including, but not limited to, injection molding & CNC machining, injection mold inspection/preventive maintenance/repair, industrial maintenance, and related technical tasks. The Technical Team Leader supports and leads in maintaining quality control measures, monitoring individual and team productivity/service goals, and promoting a safe/lean culture.
As a working lead, this position will also perform essential functions relevant to respective specialized technical team such as injection mold processing, process troubleshooting, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, supporting and sustaining production equipment to continuously improve operations of production lines, and completing/overseeing preventative maintenance requests. Accountable for machine downtime and is involved in the OEE metric for the plastics department.
Position Responsibilities
1. In conjunction with production and engineering leadership, oversee floor operations to include directing labor and maintaining consistent workflow in all areas to meet customer service levels.
2. Make recommendations to team and adjust operations accordingly to meet service goals.
3. Support manufacturing in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical PLC related troubleshooting systems and equipment issues.
4. Assist in changeovers and setups using various tools.
5. Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed by the team.
6. Communicate in a professional/respectful manner operational priorities and customer requirements.
7. Create and maintain a safety-conscious workforce by championing 6S and conducting safety meetings.
8. Set up and run multiple injection mold machines simultaneously.
9. Train new hires and technical trainees in relevant shop processes.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
1. 7 to 10 years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment with lead position experience.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills including listening, coaching, diplomacy, and conflict resolution.
3. Proficient in part inspection using various measuring tools.
4. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
5. Basic understanding of ISO9001 and LEAN principles.
6. Ability to work unsupervised and take initiative in the problem-solving process.
7. Understanding of automated tool probing concepts.
Education and Certification
1. Two (2) year Career and Technical Education (CTE) diploma or equivalent experience.
2. Associate’s Degree in electrical or mechanical field of study preferred.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
