We're seeking one or two individuals to join our marketing team—either experienced professionals or enthusiastic newcomers eager to learn. In this role, you'll create content for our website, emails, PR efforts, and social media channels. The focus will be particularly written content such as articles and guides, but you’ll also be involved with videos, gifs, infographics and more. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to incorporate AI tools into your day and learn (and share) more about what AI can offer. These roles are for someone who wants to create ‘the best answer to someone’s online search’; someone who is a skilled, engaging writer, who can research a topic and write (at pace) a compelling 1,000-word article that is more interesting and informative than anything else on the subject. Content helps us add value to our customers. It helps us improve our SERPs rankings. It helps us capture marketing permissions from those who engage with it, so we can keep talking to them. And it helps us get talked about with PR. These are important, commercially-focused roles, and we are looking for ambitious, driven candidates who are determined to succeed. About us: Pure Cremation is the UK’s favourite provider of direct cremation services, a modern alternative to traditional funerals. Already the most popular provider of funeral plans in Britain, we continue to grow fast and invest in our facilities and our people. We’ve more 5-star customer reviews than any of our competitors (over 25,000 5-star reviews on Trustpilot and Reviews.io) and we recently won ‘Best Funeral Plan Provider’. Join Pure, and you’re joining the market-leader, you’re part of a huge success story, and you’re part of a disruptor brand that’s getting talked about more and more, with a highly accomplished marketing team and in-house creative studio. About the role: This is a flexible position – we'll tailor the role to suit your strengths and passions. Writing is at the core of the role, but if you have other design, photography or videography skills (or want to learn them) we can incorporate that too. Whether you’re an experienced content professional or a talented writer eager to make an impact, what matters most is your ability to create compelling, human-centric content that meets our business needs while touching hearts and minds. You’ll take ownership of our tone of voice, ensuring it’s consistent and authentic across all our content. You’ll write and create engaging guides, articles, and videos that are user-focused, empathetic, and truly helpful. You’ll also embrace tools like AI to create high-quality content efficiently, balancing pace with excellence. We’re already experimenting with ChatGPT, Claude, Speechify, OpenArt, Runway and Firefly, and we’d love to see how much further we could go with your support. What you’ll do: Create engaging, informative content that answers key search queries and helps families navigating difficult times. Write and publish approximately four articles per week (for example three updates to existing articles, one completely new), ensuring they are well-researched, empathetic, and engaging. Liaise with the rest of the marketing team including the SEO Manager, and social media team to align content with business goals and maximise impact. Ensure consistency in our tone of voice, keeping it warm, trustworthy, and human. Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and content quality while maintaining a human touch. Monitor and analyse content performance, using insights to refine and optimise future work. Support video and multimedia projects, working with colleagues and the creative team to enhance our content with visuals and short-form videos. Stay up to date with industry trends and suggest fresh content ideas. A day in the life Your day will start with a check-in with the rest of the marketing team to review content priorities, discuss what’s performing well, occasionally brainstorm new ideas and check-in with progress. Then, you’ll dive into content creation: Research and planning: reviewing keywords and audience insights from the SEO Manager and colleagues to shape your content creation. If you’re working on an update to an existing piece, you’ll look at performance data to see what can be improved. Writing: drafting a new 1,000-word guide—perhaps something answering a common search query about direct cremation or funeral planning. You’ll use AI tools where they add efficiency but ensure the final content is original, engaging, and empathetic. Collaboration: sharing your draft with the team for feedback and refinement, and to ensure your content plans are aligned with other activities and channels. Publishing and optimisation: uploading content to the CMS, adding images, internal links, and metadata for SEO. Updating existing content: reviewing three older articles to refresh stats, improve clarity, or enhance emotional impact. Creative work: If you have design or video skills, you might create a GIF or short explainer video to complement your article. Or use Speechify to improve accessibility and engagement. End-of-day wrap-up : Checking analytics to see how recent content is performing and noting ideas for future improvements. No two days are exactly the same, but every day involves storytelling, strategy, and ensuring our content is as helpful and human as possible. What we’re looking for: A talented writer who understands how to connect with people through words, balancing empathy, creativity, and clarity. Someone who is strategic and commercially aware, understanding that content serves multiple business purposes (SEO, lead generation, PR, engagement). A self-starter who takes ownership of content and brings fresh ideas to the table. Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing quality with efficiency. A collaborative team player who enjoys working alongside marketing, design, and SEO colleagues. Experience in content creation, writing, or marketing is essential, but how much experience you have is less important than your approach, passion, and ability to learn. Why join us? Competitive salary, based on experience and level. Hybrid working – work from our central Bristol office and remotely. Generous holiday allowance to support work-life balance. Company pension and other benefits. An innovative, supportive team environment where your ideas are valued. The chance to make a real difference by creating content that helps people at an important moment in their lives. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re an experienced content professional or someone with a passion for writing and storytelling, what matters most is your ability to create meaningful content that resonates with our audience. Apply today, and let’s create something extraordinary together. Please note, we may need to undertake a vetting process through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or Disclosure Scotland on new employees, dependent on requirement. All gaps in your CV must be disclosed. We reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
