Main duties of the job
The main duties will include repairs, installation works and planned maintenance work on a multi-trade basis requiring specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures and practises.
You will diagnose and repair all faults onengineering installations, plant and equipment.
You will act as a team leader as required,co-ordinating/directing the work of others.
You will undertake a range of complex workof a multi trade nature.
You will use skills extended beyond CoreTrades to aid diagnosis and maintenance activities including installation,maintenance and testing of medical gases and associated equipment.
You will undertake the role of HTMAuthorised Person in area of core skills.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The Technician will be expected tomake the necessary arrangements with user departments to effectively plan anddeliver their workload in compliance with the departments workforce PlanningPortfolio.
The post holder will be required torequisition via the appropriate procedures, suitable replacement non-stickitems. This requires the use of the correct documentation in accordance withthe Stores Requisitioning Procedures.
The post holder will be required todiagnose and repair faults to engineering installations, plant and equipment,utilising specialist tools, complex measuring and meeting equipment.
The Technician will be expected tocarry out appropriate communications equipment to enable a rapid response tourgent/emergency situations.
To communicate effectively with wardsand departments in relation to Estates issues utilising written and/or verbalcommunication methods to ensure standards of service delivery are maintainedand the service user is fully informed of works affecting their area ofresponsibility.
To be conversant with the operationof Building Management Systems and to undertake training on the Trusts systemsas required.
To assess individual circumstancesthat affect the health and safety of patients, staff and visitors and make thedecision to proceed with work procedure when appropriate.
To ensure that check lists/advicenotes are amended/updated to comply with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015,HTMs, working practises and Permit to Work systems.
To undertake a range of Authorisedperson duties in specific specialist areas where appropriate training has beenprovided,, Pressure Systems, Water Management and Legionella Control.
Undertakes the role of responsible ornominated person as set down in appropriate regulatory and advisory complianceframeworks. These areas will be identified and agreed in writing after whichappropriate training will be provided and updated.
Contribute to the ContinuousImprovement programme/Waste Reduction Programme.
To undertake surveys and providecomprehensive reports as deemed appropriate by the Estates Manager.
To ensure the Quality SystemFramework is utilised and maintained at operational level in a manner thatreflects the departments Quality Manual.
Toparticipate in an on call rota if required.

Qualifications

1. HNC in Building Engineering or equivalent qualifications supported by further education, training and experience within a large Estates function or its equivalent.

2. Recognised apprenticeship.
3. Experience in complex Engineering Services with a demonstrable track record of success.

4. Previous experience in a large acute hospital.
5. Previous experience of contributing to operational decision making.
