About the Role HMM singing groups are expanding, and we are seeking enthusiastic Singing Group Leaders to run our established and new singing sessions in East and North Herts. This is a rewarding freelance role focused on delivering engaging and uplifting singing sessions for people living with dementia and their carers. For the successful candidate/s full training on how our sessions should be delivered will be provided however, a strong confident singing voice and your own transport is essential to this role. As well as this a good repertoire of songs is helpful and the ability to learn songs quickly is very useful. Most of our sessions are acapella but some leaders do use guitars or piano to add contrast. Whilst we use music therapy techniques a qualification in this field is not essential. Our sessions last approximately 90 minutes (plus 15 minutes required for setting up). There will be a small amount of administration required like managing member attendance and session fees. You will be supported by a team of volunteers. In addition to leading regular singing groups, there are opportunities to take part in events and commissions throughout the year. Valuable skills and attributes Strong and confident singing voice Ability to engage and inspire a group. Good knowledge of a variety of songs from accross the decades and ability to learn new ones quickly. Compassionate and patient approach, particularly with individuals living with dementia. Basic administrative skills for managing attendance and session fees. Experience in leading choirs, community singing groups, or working with vulnerable groups is an advantage. Experience working with individuals livivng with dementia is also an advantage (although not essential). Why work for Herts Musical Memories?
