Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit Summer School Teachers on a fixed term, claims basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £25.80 per hour / £30.96 per hour, dependant on teaching qualification.

The Role:
As our Summer School Teacher, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching in a summer school context. You will be able to adapt your approach to teaching young learners for whom English is not their first language. We are looking for teachers in a variety of specialisms, including but not limited to: English as a Second Language, Sciences, Mathematics, Business, Drama, Art and Design.
Responsibilities as our Summer School Teacher will include:
Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum
Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate
Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students
Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
Contribute to the design, delivery, planning and development of the curriculum
Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
Participate in relevant field trips and activities
Participate, as a team member, in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement
Contribute to the self-assessment process and take responsibility for relevant actions and targets in the development plan for the curriculum area
Participate in the College's Lesson Observation Scheme
Undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and College development
As our Summer School Teacher, you'll ideally have:
Subject specialist qualification, CELTA or equivalent; Cambridge Delta or Trinity in English Language teaching as examples
Excellent teaching skills
The ability to manage learners and learning effectively
The ability to develop effective learning resources
Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area
Knowledge of appropriate health and safety requirements
Effective communication skills
Effective team player
Good administrative and organisational skills
Able to meet tight deadlines
Able to handle pressure and a range of demands
