PCR & ELISA Technician South Exeter, Starcross. 37 hours a week 9am to 5pm, Mon - Fri Contract Until 01/10/2025 In this role you will be performing Bacteriology testing in support of DEFRA and the devolved government’s scanning surveillance policies. Key Tasks: Culture of different organisms (e.g. E. coli, Salmonella spp ., Staph aureus, Brucella spp., Champylobacter spp., Mycoplasmas or TB ) on specialist media isolated from a wide range of biological samples (e.g. faeces, tissues, swabs or food samples). Using Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of antibodies Performing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for the detection and differentiation of Mycobacterium species Use of specialist equipment such as PCR machines, liquid handling robots, plate readers, & centrifuges Basic immunology including cell counting and immunoassay of cytokines. Presentation of data in tabular or graphical formats for compilation in reports or papers. Submission registration using LIMS software Various supporting tasks to maintain laboratory testing activities. Working to ISO17025 Essential Requirements: Laboratory experience, experience of ELISA and PCR assays. Experience in techniques related to general bacteriology/Microbiology. Experience of working to quality standards (ideally ISO17025) Good IT skills including Microsoft Office Software
