St. Olave’s Grammar School is a forward-looking selective Church of England school where our naturally able and inquisitive pupils are a delight to teach. We are seeking to appoint a Part-time qualified Coach (strong preference for Rugby coaching) at St. Olave’s Grammar School with effect from 22 April 2025 or 28 August 2025.
You will be required to work up to 25 hours a week, term-time only, not including INSET days. Your contracted working hours will be (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) from 1pm — 5pm, Wednesday 11am – 5pm (including ½ hour unpaid lunch break on Wednesdays) which equates to 21.5 hours/week. The remuneration for this role is Point 2 on the NJC Support Staff Scale 1, currently £27,345 FTE. Saturday mornings will be from 9.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. (timing dependent upon the fixture), 3½ hours for Saturday mornings which can be claimed separately and paid at an hourly rate.
Based on 38 weeks per year, this equates to £13,680 per annum, part-time 50.03% plus payment for hours claimed for Saturday fixtures.
You would have responsibility for assisting the coaching of several year groups in a variety of sports and will be head coach for one of the rugby and cricket school teams. You would be expected to be able to referee matches on a Saturday morning as well as to travel to away fixtures.
The ability to communicate effectively with staff and parents is essential, as well as having a strong sports background commensurate with the post. You will need to be a positive role model through your professional approach to delivering quality sessions that motivate and inspire the players.
This position might support a gap-year student, retired or part-time coach but all applications will be considered. There may be the opportunity to work additional hours (weekday mornings).
