Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment providing a high standard of care in a stage 2 post-anaesthetic care unit. The successful applicant will work as part of a team of nurses providing pre and post-op care to patients undergoing elective surgical procedures. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate a caring, supportive and professional attitude.
Main duties of the job
Role Specific Duties:
* Ensure patient episode of care is delivered in a safe and timely manner.
* Implement Trust policies and protocols.
* Maximise the use of resources within your sphere of responsibility.
* Ensure that quality standards of care are implemented in line with the Care Group and Trust aims and objectives.
* Contribute in the development and maintenance of patient information systems.
* Collect and enter data onto the theatre computer system in an accurate and timely way.
* Communicate information to relevant disciplines.
* Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times in line with the Data Protection Act and your code of conduct.
* Ensure compliance with the Trust's risk management policies and procedures.
* Comply with national and local infection control policies and procedures and any other related infection prevention policies and procedures.
* Participate in the implementation and evaluation of new developments and be aware of service needs, quality and assurance programmes.
* Actively promote research awareness and participate in research-based projects and working groups as required.
* Ability to problem solve and escalate to appropriate level.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Degree/ Diploma
* Recent clinical experience within an acute Trust
* Delivery of evidence-based practice
* Demonstrates patient-focused approach
* Ensure registration maintained and to practice within the professional code of conduct
* Completion of preceptorship
* Previous experience at Band 5
* Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
* Evidence of facilitating learning in practice
Governance
* Full awareness of NMC Code of Conduct
* Full awareness of Clinical Governance and Risk Management
* Understanding of current issues in nursing
Personal and Professional Attributes
* Patient-focused approach
* Basic IT skills
* Ability to develop working relationships with others
