We are currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join an expanding engineering team, based either in Bristol or Exeter, with hybrid working options available. In this role, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead - Process and be responsible for providing high-quality Engineering Design services. Your primary focus will be on minimizing risks and maximizing profitability for turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate design processes, producing design documents and drawings while ensuring that health and safety requirements, specifications, and industry standards are met. Key responsibilities: - Develop cost-effective design layouts that meet the specified requirements and can be efficiently constructed and commissioned. _Cost-effective_ includes all associated costs, such as design, materials, and construction time, as well as the impact on other disciplines. - Ensure the use of standard practices wherever possible while maintaining competitiveness in design solutions. - Provide estimates and feedback to the proposals department. - Work according to established procedures and processes to support the continuous development of the department. - Assist in the development, monitoring, and review of departmental procedures and processes. - Write, update, and track efficient procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations. - Coordinate design efforts with internal and external teams to ensure all disciplines work together effectively for the benefit of the contract as a whole. - Maintain thorough records and files throughout the duration of contracts. - Prioritize customer satisfaction, ensuring designs meet both external and internal needs. - Work within a customer-centric culture where meeting customer requirements is key to overall success. - Maintain and update a personal development plan and assist in supervising and developing team members. - Ensure a safe working environment for all staff and reduce waste in departmental activities. - Take environmental considerations into account in design work and ensure all designs adhere to health and safety regulations. Ideal candidate profile: - Significant experience designing and specifying complex process systems, including clean water treatment works. - Expertise in creating Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), performing mass balance calculations, and producing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). - Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles. - Experience managing teams in the design of water and sewage treatment plants. - Membership of a professional institution, ideally chartered or nearing chartership. - Preferred: relevant engineering degree (minimum: engineering HND). - Strong ability to rationalize designs and produce cost-effective plant layouts. - Broad knowledge of water treatment, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management. - Flexible and capable of processing large amounts of complex data. - Strong communication skills, able to present technical proposals confidently and clearly. - Proficiency in using relevant software and systems. - Valid driving license. Desirable: - Working towards Chartered Engineer status. - Relevant engineering masters degree.
