Job responsibilities Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist - Band 7 To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to the long term conditions service including inpatients and outpatients across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. Offering advice and consultation on clients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service. Psychological Therapist - Band 7 The post holder will provide a timely adult mental health assessment. They will offer effective signposting as required and will deliver evidence based psychological therapies to those identified as experiencing common mental health problems. The post holder will offer training, liaison and consultation to colleagues within the Psychology in Healthcare Service to contribute to the improved delivery of psychological therapies across the acute trust and primary care in Newcastle and support the implementation of local protocols. The post holder will operate as part of an integrated Psychological Therapies Service and will liaise with Community Mental Health Teams and other specialist Mental Health Services. Deputise for locality co-ordinator when necessary. Post holders will provide clinical and case management supervision. Will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages using interpreters where necessary. They will also be required to provide supervision to other staff as appropriate. The post has a requirement to work flexibly in line with the aim of providing greater access to clients.
