Customs Compliance Management:
Position Overview:
Egyco for Customs Clearance is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to oversee and ensure the company’s adherence to UK customs regulations, international trade laws, and internal policies. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of regulatory compliance, customs clearance processes, and maintaining high standards of risk management in transportation, shipping, and customs-related activities. This position is vital for ensuring that the company remains fully compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements, minimizing risks and avoiding potential fines or delays in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the company’s customs clearance processes to ensure compliance with UK customs regulations, including import/export procedures and HMRC guidelines.
* Manage and monitor customs declarations, ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
* Stay updated on changes in international trade laws and customs requirements, advising the company on necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure the company’s adherence to all legal regulations relating to customs, shipping, and transportation.
* Liaise with government agencies, including HMRC, to address queries, audits, or inspections.
* Conduct regular audits of compliance processes and documentation to identify and mitigate risks.
Risk Management:
* Implement internal controls and compliance programs to minimize risks related to customs clearance and international trade.
* Develop and update the company’s risk management policies, procedures, and compliance manuals.
* Handle investigations of potential violations of regulations and coordinate any corrective actions needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Ensure the proper documentation for all shipments, including import/export licenses, certificates of origin, and product classification (e.g., tariff codes).
* Prepare and submit compliance reports to senior management, highlighting key compliance risks and recommending necessary action.
Training and Communication:
* Provide training to staff on customs procedures, compliance protocols, and changes in legislation.
* Act as the primary point of contact for compliance-related matters, offering guidance and advice to internal teams.
Third-Party and Client Compliance:
* Work closely with clients, shipping agents, and third-party logistics providers to ensure that all parties comply with relevant customs and trade regulations.
* Conduct regular reviews of third-party contracts to ensure compliance with both company policies and legal requirements.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Trade, Business, or a related field.
* Knowledge of UK customs regulations, International Trade Agreements, and WTO regulations.
* Relevant professional qualifications or experience in Customs and International Trade Compliance is highly desirable.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of customs procedures and the import/export process.
* Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with government agencies, clients, and internal teams.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of customs clearance software (e.g., CHIEF, CDS).
