As the Deputy Managing Director, you will have oversight of all functions within the College ensuring appropriate financial planning and structures, policies and procedures are in place to deliver the College strategy, commercial and financial target, maintaining operational awareness and mitigating risk. You will work closely with the MD, Principal and College Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and implement strategies that align with the College mission and objectives, achieving appropriate KPIs. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and a proven track record in managing educational institutions or similar organizations.
Your main responsibilities will include the following:
* Support the MD in the preparation of a corporate plan and annual business plan and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the College attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
* Provide strategic advice and guidance to the MD / GUS Board, to keep them aware of developments within the industry and to ensure that the appropriate policies are developed to meet the Colleges' mission and objectives and to comply with all relevant statutory and other regulations.
* Ensure that the College remains at the forefront in the sector, applies the most cost-effective methods and approaches, provides leading-edge programmes and services and retains its competitive edge.
* Oversee and report to the MD/ /Board outcomes for the commercial, and Operations within the College, working in conjunction with senior staff.
* Oversee and control the work and resources of the College and ensure the recruitment and retention of the required numbers and types of well-motivated, trained and developed staff to ensure that it achieves its mission and objectives.
* Develop and direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the College complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.
* To provide inspirational and effective leadership for the College and have an unwavering focus on improving the student experience.
* Support the MD in the Preparation, acceptance, and monitoring the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.
* Develop and maintain an effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services and image of the College in the wider community.
* Deputise for the MD if required in the representation of the College in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the College.
* Minimum of 5 years of management experience within HE music institute
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels
* Graduate university qualifications, in educational administration or management or related field/s, together with extensive managerial experience, preferably in education
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
* Proven ability to initiate, lead and implement growth strategies and tactics which have made a significant contribution to sustainable business growth ― preferably in an educational environment
