Are you passionate about supporting the voice of vulnerable children? If you can provide the encouragement and guidance to set in place support plans and engagement with specialist services, and you have what it takes to work in partnership with Children’s Social Care and local authority residential homes and foster care providers, this might be the role for you.
A key deliverable in the role of Missing From Home Caseworker is to work in collaboration with local authorities and the local constabulary to offer support on the issues affecting young people and their families. This is a role requiring specialist knowledge in the field, to provide interventions and direct work, as well as signposting and implementing relevant referrals for our young people and their families.
This is a great opportunity to advocate for the safety and recovery of the children and young people who engage with our services, identifying ways in which we can improve their wellbeing, reduce harm and ensure they are appropriately supported by relevant services. You will undertake return interviews for all missing from home or care notifications received by Police and Social Care within strict timescales.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of one-to-one work with children and young people, managing risk, and identifying the most appropriate pathway based on an assessment of needs.
A key focus for the role is to provide educational awareness within local authority residential homes and foster care providers.
Required Skills
1. Knowledge and understanding of working with young people 1-on-1, and the issues they face
2. Ability to build strong relationships and rapport with a range of children, young people and services
3. Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating support activities for and with young people and their carers
4. Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting young people such as exploitation, substance misuse, mental and physical health, and emotional wellbeing
5. Experience and understanding of case management including assessment, action planning and review
6. Experience and application of Health and Safety and risk management procedures
7. Experience and understanding of Child Protection including Safeguarding processes and procedures
8. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to develop and build relationship with a range of internal and external stakeholders
9. NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (or willing to achieve within 12 months), or relevant qualification in youth work/ education
10. Able to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact and diplomacy
11. Had the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
12. A proven track record of working as an individual and as part of a team sharing skills, experince and knowledge with others
13. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
