This is an exciting role front of house, working closely with clinical colleagues to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care. The role requires someone who has a great level of attention to detail and good organisational skills for managing in a busy environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for dealing with colleagues, patients and families. The needs of the service user will be the utmost priority. The principle of high quality customer care is at the heart of this role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to admit/discharge and transfer patients, answer telephone enquiries, create appointments and arrange transport for patients. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the reception area is tidy & well organised and that office supplies and stationary are ordered and kept stocked up.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic IT skills
* Basic keyboard skills
* Able to use Word, Excel and email.
* Must be able to communicate in English language, both written and verbally appropriate to the post.
* Knowledge of existing hospital systems (Epro, Maxims).
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public in retail or public services.
* Willingness to use or learn to use a PC.
* Basic knowledge of NHS legislation to include COSHH, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Waste Management, Manual Handling, Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
* Previous recent experience of reception work.
* Previous NHS experience in an administrative role.

* Confident and able to relate to patients and staff in a calm professional manner.
* Physically able to carry out the duties of the post including bending, stretching, kneeling and walking for long periods.

* Demonstrate empathy and understanding when dealing with issues related to staff.
