Paediatric Staff Nurse - Starlight Ward - Oncology
Starlight Ward is our paediatric oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplant inpatient ward. We care for 0-12 year olds and are the principal treatment centre in the south west for haematology and oncology.
There is a robust ward induction and a thorough and supportive supernumerary period. We have a passion for education and a Clinical Skills Facilitator to support upskilling and competencies available for all nurses.
We have an In-house educational programme including introduction to cancer, regional programme and chemotherapy training plus external learning opportunities including conference attendance, university courses and modules.

If you are a registered adult nurse with experience in paediatric oncology, we welcome your application. Unfortunately, we cannot support nurses that require OSCE to register with the NMC UK.

* Being competent and experienced in administering intravenous medication and chemotherapy in oncology patients.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment.
* Interest in the clinical area.
* Experience in teaching.
* Experience in taking charge.
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the area.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids.
* Ability to lead and take appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient.
* Clinical decision-making ability.
* Teaching/supervisory skills.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision.
* Act in a professional manner.
* Self-motivated and a team player.
* Recognition of own limits.
Public Sector Language Competency
* Fluent in English to an appropriate standard.
Qualifications and Training
* RSCN/RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent.
* Current NMC registration.
* Work towards relevant university accredited post-basic study programmes (e.g., teaching and assessing course).
