Do you have experience supporting people with their mental health? Are you able to work effectively with people experiencing distress? Are you looking to gain more professional experience to support you with your study in a relevant discipline? We're looking for experienced, empathetic, and resilient mental health support workers to join us in our purpose of offering hope and support for good mental health so that no one feels alone.
Our North East Essex Sanctuary is a new service that will provide support to those who are at risk of experiencing a mental health crisis between 10am and 11pm, 365 days per year. As a mental health support worker, you will assess, monitor, and support individuals on a one-to-one basis, via group work, and in partnership with a variety of organisations within the locality.
You will be part of an experienced team who provide emotional support, face to face or via telephone, to people through active listening, de-escalation, and distraction techniques, to prevent unnecessary referrals to secondary mental health services, A&E departments, and other emergency services.
The service is open from 10am to 11pm, 365 days a year, and we work on a 2-week rolling shift pattern. Successful applicants will be required to work alternate weekends or just weekends if preferred. The available shifts are: 10am - 3pm; 3pm - 11pm; 10am - 6pm; 6pm - 11pm. We have permanent and bank contracts available, so please specify when applying if you can commit to regular contracted shifts or if you would prefer to work bank shifts.
We are a real living wage employer and offer our staff a range of health, wellbeing, lifestyle, and financial benefits to ensure that we fully support our employees. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, collaborating with our communities and partners to drive innovation and better decision-making. We welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds to ensure we better represent our communities.
