Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and skilled engagement professional to join the Public Participation Team. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is committed to ensuring that the voice of our local communities is present in every part of our organisation and that we provide meaningful opportunities to get involved. The successful candidate will be working with colleagues and partners in the local health economy to identify and build sustainable relationships with our staff, communities and seldom heard groups across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.
Being part of the wider Public Participation Department (covering Community Engagement, SaTH Charity and Volunteers), the post holder will have the opportunity to get involved with a wide range of projects.
The post holder will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but will be required to travel to off-site locations and to work cross site on some occasions. Occasionally the post holder will need to work in the evenings and weekends to support events the Trust are attending.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role is to increase the Trust’s engagement with children and young people across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Powys, by building relationships with community groups and organisations, including those from seldom heard communities. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Public Participation Plan (2021-2025) and developing ways of involving and engaging children and young people around the work of the Trust. You will take an active role in developing and delivering engagement to our key stakeholders and local communities, helping to drive forward improvements in how we communicate, actively listen, and engage.
As part of the Public Participation team (Community Engagement, SaTH Charity and Volunteers) you will also contribute to the wider activities of the team, which will bring the opportunity to work on a range of interesting projects across the Trust.
Working for your organisation
The post holder will be part of the Public Participation Department, which includes Community Engagement, SaTH Charity and Volunteers.
We are an organisation that strives to provide high quality, safe care for our patients in an environment which our staff are proud to work in. We believe that by adhering to our Vision (“To provide excellent care for the communities we serve”) and working with our Trust Values in mind (Partnering, Ambitious, Caring, Trusted) we can achieve the right results for the people that matter most – our patients and their families.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust offers a fully supportive environment to work in with great opportunities to progress.
