Location: Hybrid with expectation to attend offices in North Yorkshire when required including NYBCP Head office at Easingwold, Civic Centre (Skipton) and Civic Centre (Harrogate)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control team working within the heart of North Yorkshire. The Partnership prides itself on aiming to deliver a cost effective, efficient and professional service to all clients.
About Us
North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership (NYBCP) was the first Local Authority Building Control Partnership in the UK. We provide a flexible and modern building control service on behalf of North Yorkshire Council.
We process Building Regulation applications under the provisions of Section 91 and 92 of the Building Act 1984. In addition to Building Regulations, we undertake work in relation to dangerous structures and demolition notifications across the Partnership area. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge across all types of projects and construction techniques and encourage innovative solutions.
The Role
We are seeking Assistant Building Control Surveyors, registered or ready to work towards registration at Class 1 with the Building Safety Regulator, to effectively deliver the Building Control function throughout North Yorkshire and contribute towards the objectives of the council. Working alongside a professional team, you will be working towards being competent in all Building Control and administrative matters, ensuring that appropriate buildings meet the regulatory standards in safety, sustainability, accessibility and design.
You will initiate and assist with enforcement action to ensure delivery of the council’s obligations under the Building Act and associated legislation, whilst working within a highly competitive market. The post holder will ensure a strong and efficient performance culture with a focus on service excellence and customer satisfaction.

Can you help towards effectively delivering the Building Control function throughout North Yorkshire? The Partnership requires an Assistant Building Control Surveyor to help ensure that appropriate buildings meet the regulatory standards in safety, sustainability, accessibility and design. You will need to be a team player, able to prioritize a busy workload and demonstrate a proactive approach to plan assessment and site inspection work, checking compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
