To provide senior nursing leadership and responsible for overseeing the clinical care within Forest Lodge Low Secure inpatient unit and to secure and assure the highest standards of clinical care are provided to our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver on the Matron’s 10 Key Responsibilities:
* Leading by example
* Making sure patients get quality care
* Ensuring staffing is appropriate to patient needs
* Empowering nurses to take on a wider range of clinical tasks
* Improving hospital cleanliness
* Ensuring patients’ nutritional needs are met
* Improving wards for patients (to include supporting ward in identification of ligatures and management plan regarding existing ligatures)
* Making sure patients are treated with respect
* Preventing hospital-acquired infection
* Resolving problems for patients and their relatives by building closer relationships
This post is responsible to the General Manager and professionally accountable to Head of Nursing for the directorate. The Matron provides professional and clinical supervision to Clinical Nurse Specialist and Ward Managers. The Matron provides line management to Clinical Nurse Specialists, where appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will be based at Forest Lodge, 5 Forest Close. Forest Lodge is a 22 bedded low secure unit. Patients admitted to Forest Lodge Hospital are generally suffering from one of the major illnesses. Referrals require an access assessment, and the conclusions are peer reviewed at the regional referral meetings before being accepted for admission.

* NMC registration
* Masters Qualification
* Several years post qualification experience at Senior Level
* Experience of working in the Criminal Justice System, Forensic Mental Health setting or similar.
* Extensive experience of safeguarding
* Experience of Quality Improvement
