We are looking for a capable member of staff with experience working in countryside access or highways to help update the Public Rights of Way map for Wakefield. Working in the Public Rights of Way Team to help update and maintain the legal record of Public Rights of Way. This role is responsible for applications to modify the legal record of public rights of way, the Definitive Map and Statement, under the provisions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. This will require analysis of historical documents and user evidence. The role is also responsible for the processing of applications to amend rights of way under the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 as well as changes to rights of way under other relevant legislation such as the Cycle Tracts Act 1984. This is an opportunity to have a vital input into new initiatives and schemes for Active Travel, recreational paths and securing improvements for access when new development affect rights of way.
