Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role starts in October and runs until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay of £419.25 - £500.
Role Overview:
As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Science department. This position is ideal for recent Science graduates considering a career in education and looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Classroom Assistance: Work closely with Science teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Your support will help ensure that all students can access the curriculum effectively.
* Targeted Student Support: Provide focused assistance to students who need extra help with scientific concepts. This may include one-on-one tutoring or small group sessions designed to reinforce understanding and support academic progress.
* Resource Development: Assist in creating and preparing teaching materials, including lab experiments, worksheets, and revision aids, that cater to diverse learning needs and help bring the subject matter to life.
* Student Engagement: Encourage students to develop their interest and skills in Science by fostering a positive and inquisitive learning environment. Help to inspire a love for the subject and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
* Assessment Support: Aid in the assessment process by marking student work, tracking progress, and providing constructive feedback. Work with teachers to identify students who may need additional support and assist in planning and implementing interventions.
* Exam Preparation: Support students in preparing for their Science exams by conducting revision sessions, assisting with practice exams, and offering guidance on study techniques and exam strategies.
Ideal Candidate:
* A recent graduate with a degree in a Science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
* Passionate about Science and committed to supporting student learning and achievement.
* Patient, adaptable, and empathetic, with a strong desire to work with young people.
* Previous experience in an educational setting or working with students is beneficial but not essential.
