We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour Support Mentor to assist with the provision of support for individual students facing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. You will help our students overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside of the classroom, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
This position would suit an experienced LSA/unqualified teacher or someone interested in developing a career in education and looking for a new stimulating role.
We are a heavily oversubscribed secondary special school situated in Amersham. We are a specialist SEN College for Communication and Interaction, meaning that all students have a speech or language need.

Start Date: April 2025 or ASAP

Salary Type: Bucks pay
Salary details: Range 3 £27,310 - £29,295 pro-rata (Actual Salary - £20,344 to £21,823)
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Term Time only (Part-time applications will be considered)

Your Responsibilities
You will:
1. Develop and implement strategies to manage and support students exhibiting challenging behaviour.
2. Ideally have experience of supporting similar pupils by establishing a nurturing 1:1 mentoring relationship.
3. Work directly with individuals or groups to enhance the self-esteem and confidence of pupils, fostering improvements in their personal and social skills.
4. Act as a motivator, role model, and advocate for young people as well as being creative, flexible, and able to adapt to respond to individual learners.
5. Be a proactive learner and willing to work collaboratively with a dedicated team of staff.

About you
You might be an existing LSA, HLTA, or unqualified teacher with an interest in SEN. You will need to have a successful track record of working with pupils across a wide ability range and the ability to work effectively with the whole school community. Inter-personal skills will be required to work alongside a team of dedicated and hardworking staff and for building relationships with pupils.
Applications from LSA's, HLTA's, or unqualified teachers with primary/secondary mainstream or SEN experience are welcome. All new members of staff will be supported by a comprehensive induction and training programme.
