Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a part-time (30hrs per week) Housekeeper to join our friendly team on Ward 26 General Medicine & Endocrine (RSH).
Ward 26 is a busy 37-bedded ward at RSH, specialising in caring for general medical and endocrine patients, many of whom are either acutely unwell or have complex medical needs. We have a fast turnover of patients, so being able to work dynamically is essential.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment at all times.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are key in addition to being able to collaborate as part of a team. A caring and compassionate attitude is also vital.
The post holder will be required to maintain stock levels and participate in the ordering of stock. You will also be required to maintain a high level of cleanliness both within the ward kitchen and the overall ward environment. Other duties of the role include being able to coordinate and serve meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), complete regular drinks/tea rounds, and support the nursing team in updating patients' dietary/fluid intake records.
Main Duties of the Job
Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload. We need someone with a flexible approach who will be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload.
You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day. You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.
Recent experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment is essential along with an awareness of health and safety, as you will be working in a demanding environment. You are also required to be IT literate. Previous experience with stock control is desirable.
Working for Your Organisation
We would like to invite you to join our motivated and friendly team who are committed to providing a high-quality, patient-centred service. As an organisation, we strive to provide high-quality, safe care for our patients in an environment which our staff are proud to work in. We believe that by adhering to our Vision (“To provide excellent care for the communities we serve”) and working with our Trust Values in mind (Partnering, Ambitious, Caring, Trusted) we can achieve the right results for the people that matter most – our patients and their families.
