Advert closing date: 12 th January 2025 Your role: We are seeking to appoint an Internal Auditor to join the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Internal Audit team. Ideally you will be someone who has a previous track record of delivering risk-based audit assignments in a public sector environment, with knowledge of governance, risk management, and internal control processes. You will work as part of a small team providing an agreed range of audit and assurance activities, supporting the Audit Manager in delivering end to end audits of different business systems and processes, testing of internal controls and conducting grant certifications. The role requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure the information presented is accurate, consistent and capable of being relied upon by senior stakeholders to make informed decisions in relation to implementing any recommended improvement actions. The role delivers audits across GMCA (including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and GM Waste and Recycling functions), and you will be given the opportunity to develop your understanding of the wide range of GMCA functions and wider Group activities and be part of a progressive internal audit team delivering a first-class audit service. About you: Ideally you will have relevant sector internal audit experience in planning and delivering audit assignments Hold or be working towards an internal audit, accountancy or risk management qualification (IIA, CIPFA, ACCA, IRM) Ability to write and present reports to a good standard and confident in presenting findings to stakeholders Be able to prioritise your own workload, working independently or as part of a team IT literate with good analytical and problem-solving skills including data analytics Capable of relationship building with a wide variety of senior stakeholders.
