Swindon’s Traffic Management & Road Safety team has a critical role in managing and improving our highway and transport network and in supporting our growing business and residential populations. Balancing demands and current and future transport needs through our policies, strategies and works programmes is key to ensuring that we have a safe, effective and efficient highway and transport network able to help Swindon achieve its potential.
Your next role
Joining Swindon Borough Council as our Senior Traffic Engineer is your chance to make a difference and be part of something exciting. You will work as part of the Traffic Management and Road Safety Team providing safe and effective management of Swindon’s highway network. You will contribute to the identification, prioritisation and management of traffic management and road safety improvements in accordance with council policy and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities include:
1. Accident analysis
2. Scheme design
3. Management and co-ordination of projects
4. Liaison with stakeholders
5. Applying national and local guidance and standards
You will have an HND/HNC or equivalent or compensatory experience in traffic or transport/civil engineering.
You will have experience of working with the public and key stakeholders relating to traffic management and road safety.
You will have experience in the field of road safety including collision analysis and formulation and implementation of road safety schemes.
You will have experience of using appropriate specialist software.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
