Our Bridgend Local Support service is a drop-in base for anyone who needs immediate support around Housing, debt and homelessness prevention. Our floating support team provide housing related support to assist in the prevention of homelessness. We offer support with budgeting, rent arrears, accessing grants, support to access future housing and help to set up their tenancy. We also support clients to sustain their current tenancy. We encourage the clients to deal with issues that may threaten their progression, especially with matters regarding behaviour, substance misuse, health and wellbeing, budgeting skills, benefits, life skills and household management. The team operates between Monday – Friday, 9am – 7pm & Saturday mornings, 9am – 1pm. Pobl means ‘People’ and people really are at the heart of everything we do. Day to Day Duties: As a Scheme Support Officer your day will consist of: Working from our Drop In and be directed by our Floating Support Workers Traveling to the people we support, temporary accommodation or public place Engaging and interacting with the people we support Providing advice on tenancy management skills Greeting the public at the front desk, managing new referrals, arranging & completing assessments Working with external agencies and signposting the people we support to the appropriate services suited to their needs, specifically treatment and mental health services Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the confidence, knowledge, and tools they need to manage their home independently, so it is essential that we teach them how and not do it for them. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental as well as have an awareness of the issues faced by people at risk of homelessness.
