The Role
Following significant growth, with particular focus on Mission Critical / Data Centres, we have a newly created opportunity for a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team, based in Melbourne.
In the role of Senior Hydraulic Engineer, we’ll count on you to :
* Utilise your strong technical background in hydraulic engineering to plan, design and execute hydraulic building services projects.
* Manage and coordinate the hydraulic portions of complex projects.
* Provide expertise and guidance on complex hydraulic projects.
* Complete detailed hydraulic engineering designs using design software, engineering principles and the relevant Australian Codes and Standards.
* Independently evaluate, select and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures to make decisions on a broad range of hydraulic issues.
* Support project leaders and project directors across a range of projects and disciplines.
* Manage project timelines, budgets and resources to deliver successful project outcomes.
* Prepare and check technical reports, drawings and specifications in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
* Take responsibility for all aspects of the work, including drawings and specifications, meeting schedules and budgets, and directing assigned staff.
* Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters.
* Monitor the schedule and budgets for projects.
* Review and summarise applicable codes and records them for inclusion in the design record.
* Coordinate with team members, clients, contractors and any external consultants during the design process.
* Attend and lead project meetings where required.
* Maintain good client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
* Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training / CPD requirements.
* Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
* Implement requirements for ISO9001, 45001 and ISO14001 as needed.
* Assist or execute any additional Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of hydraulic engineering principles, codes and standards.
* Mission Critical Design / Data Centre Design Experience will be highly advantageous.
* High level proficiency in CAD, Revit and Bluebeam software.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a growing team.
* Experience and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
* Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
* A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
* Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
* Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
