About this opportunity
Westmorland and Furness Special Educational Needs Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS) is a statutory service, which is run at 'arm's length' from the Local Authority. We provide free, confidential, impartial advice and guidance to support parents of children with special educational needs and children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
This role would involve working with children, young people, their families and a wide range of professionals including schools, colleges and the statutory SEND service to ensure the best possible outcomes for those with SEND and their families.
Whilst SENDIASS covers the whole footprint of Westmorland and Furness, this role would mainly cover the Kendal/South Lakes area.
Who we are looking for…
* Someone who can listen, support and offer impartial advice, including signposting to a range of other services
* Someone who understands the needs of families with children and young people with SEND
* Someone organised, flexible and able to meet the ever-growing needs of this service
* Someone who can work in partnership with schools and other agencies
Whilst lots of aspects of this role can be carried out virtually, there will be some local travel involved.
