Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic team within CNTW Psychiatric Liaison Team based at Sunderland Royal Hospital. This permanent position is suited to someone with a background in the care of service users with a wide range of mental health diagnosis who are keen to work in a busy and supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist in the delivery of care to service users who have a variety of needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognitive and/or learning disabilities under the direction of a registered practitioner. The overall responsibility for the service user remains, at all times with the registered practitioner.
2. To implement and evaluate care within a prescribed framework as a member of the care team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this promotes recovery and wellbeing and maximises independence.
3. To support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred care.
4. To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
5. To actively engage with supervision and appraisal process as identified in Trust policy.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Senior Healthcare Support Worker or equivalent or working towards.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of working/ volunteering in an appropriate care setting.
* Previous experience in a community setting (desirable).
* Experience of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services (desirable).
Skills and Competencies
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* ICT Functional skills.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Ability to develop the skills of others and to contribute to a learning environment.
* Specific skills as dictated by the post/ service (desirable).
