Who We Are
United Response is a registered charity, founded in 1973, whose mission is to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities, mental or physical support needs have the opportunity to live their lives to the full. We support around 2000 people in over 300 locations across England and Wale, and employ over 3,600 staff.
ROC College, a part of United Response, is a specialist college that provides person-centred, community-based teaching and learning within Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. We work with young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
What We’re Looking For
United Response is keen to hear from applicants with experience of working with individuals with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will be patient, supportive and enthusiastic, and able to use your creativity and initiative to provide accessible education content tailored to our students an work experience
The Ideal applicant will have necessary skills to support developing independence and accessing the students local community and Support with PBS practice and understanding of complex behavioural needs and experience with individuals with complex learning disabilities, high needs, personal care and epilepsy
You will also need to have the flexibility to travel across the community with students. This is a fantastic opportunity for those wanting to progress their skills and experience in teaching and learning. Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviours would be an advantage
What to ExpectYou will be working as part of the ROC College team to support students between the ages of 16 and 25 with EHCPs to develop life skills in a variety of community settings and you will need to have the flexibility to travel across the community with students such as learning hubs, libraries, workplaces and leisure facilities. You will assess student progress and outcomes, and help to provide accredited learning based on a personalised curriculum.
