We have an exciting new opportunity for an aspiring clinical pharmacy leader to join our Pharmacy department at CUH. As the Lead Pharmacist – Medicine (Operations & Clinical Quality) you will have the opportunity to continue to develop advanced clinical practice while building up strategic leadership and service development skills. This post would be ideally suited to a candidate looking to develop further their leadership skills towards Consultant Pharmacist credentialing, or who is interested in a Pharmacy management career pathway.
The Pharmacy Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ambitious and forward thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything we do. As a Lead Pharmacist in our clinical services team you will be responsible to empowering your team to deliver this care through role model behaviors in your own clinical setting and service provision and planning.
We are re-designing our leadership model within the CUH Pharmacy Medicine team to create a range of opportunities for Advanced Clinical Pharmacists develop their leadership capability, and to develop skills for future progression on to either management or consultant roles, proposed schematic included at the end of this section.
You will work in collaboration with the Lead Pharmacist- Medicine (Education & Improvement) to manage the day to day needs and oversight of the Pharmacy Medicine team. The Lead Pharmacist- Medicine (Operations & Clinical Quality) will have responsibilities including divisional oversight of:
· Monitoring of our clinical pharmacy Key Performance Indicators and driving improvement
· Development of strategies to manage timely access to medication and clinical pharmacy services
· Oversight of Medication Safety matters, including attendance to the Medication Safety Committee upon invitation
· Providing Pharmacy leadership to support Divisional and Trust priorities e.g. changes to patient pathways, new services
· Ensuring the delivery of mandatory Pharmacy audits within Medicine as well as a programme of clinical audit and service evaluations within the team

Our progressive and friendly pharmacy department consists of approximately 300 staff. The department provides clinical services to diverse patient groups across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including many highly specialised services.

S Support to Discharge Lounge to support patient flow
The role would require working with a range of professionals within the pharmacy department and externally including: pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, medical and nursing teams, operations team, transformation team and quality team.
In addition to the operational side of this role (anticipated 30%), you will required to provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service (anticipated 70%). The Pharmacy Medicine team look after patients from the front doors in the Emergency Department, through Short Day Emergency Care (SDEC), to our acute medicines, on to our speciality areas and discharge lounges and Delayed Transfer of Care (DTOC) beds. Your area of clinical pharmacy practice will sit within the footprint of the Pharmacy Medicine team and will be agreed with the Deputy Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager.
