Commercial Underwriter Opportunity – Tunbridge Wells
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Underwriter to join a forward-thinking and dynamic client of ours based in Tunbridge Wells.
Our client is committed to building long-lasting and trusted partnerships with brokers, working closely with leading insurers to provide access to exclusive schemes. Their team of specialists is dedicated to delivering exceptional, personalized service.
This role offers the chance to join a friendly team of five underwriters within an office of 35 professionals, focusing on underwriting commercial insurance risks and negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for both new and existing business. Hybrid working options are available, with three days from home and two in the office after the training period.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a compliant and outstanding service to partner brokers and, when required, clients.
* Demonstrate a results-driven and successful approach to work.
* Identify opportunities to expand existing business or develop new business in line with company goals.
* Work collaboratively within the team to achieve personal and team targets for volume, income, or quality.
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer service standards, and external regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA).
About You
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills, ensuring the delivery of first-class service to partner brokers.
Key attributes and experience required include:
* A background in commercial insurance, ideally with exposure to classes such as Employers Liability, Public Liability, and Contractors Liability.
* Experience with Delegated Authority or Schemes (preferred).
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Cert CII) or the desire to work towards them.
* The ability to apply sound judgment and expertise when making decisions or providing advice.
* Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships effortlessly.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally experience using Acturis.
