Material Test Engineer (Non Metalic & Metalic)
The Opportunity
This role is within the Materials Laboratory – The role will focus on delivering materials test services to Engineering in support of Materials Characterisation, Program Delivery and Investigation into quality issues. The main activity will be to carry out materials tests and verification to prescribed procedures, including sample preparation, test scheduling and reporting out results. This will involve both the use of the laboratory equipment and interrogation of suppliers test reports.
Key Performance Indicators
1. Timely completion of materials testing, test reports and test plans to agreed deadlines.
2. Maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure continued robust operation.
3. Ensuring the laboratory area complies with 5S principles.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Management of test facility and/or test materials to enable effective and timely analysis.
2. Execution of materials test activities within the laboratory, to defined procedures and processes.
3. Collation, manipulation and interpretation of data which will be used to inform engineering decisions, and communication of results in an easy to understand format.
4. Providing test expertise and interpretation on supplier delivered reports where techniques used are relevant.
5. Maintenance of laboratory equipment to enable continued effective operation.
6. Upholding facility standards including 5S and safety activities.
7. Any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.

2. Understanding of Materials science.
3. Experience in materials testing.
