We are seeking a Manager to lead and develop in a well-established Construction Materials Department, based at the laboratories in London. This is a high-level position reporting directly to the Managing Partner for the firm.
You will be:
* An expert in construction materials testing, with significant previous experience of similar activities and an extensive knowledge of concrete.
* Report writing skills and a practical nature are essential, as is the ability to handle many live projects at once.
* Strong English language skills are important, both written and verbal.
* A degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Construction or being able to demonstrate experience working in these sectors is preferred.
* Alternatively, our client will also look at you favourably if you have a solid foundation in scientific principles, through education or work experience.
Key Skills:
* Manage and lead the six staff in the department.
* Advise on and oversee the testing of various construction materials including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds, and flooring materials (including slip resistance testing).
* Undertake testing both on site and in the lab, additionally taking samples for later testing.
* Must be able to input data into an Excel spreadsheet.
* Good communication skills.
* An eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literate.
