Our client based in Hook is looking to recruit a Commissioning and Quality Engineer to join their expanding facility. Our client has been at the forefront of designing computer-controlled systems to evaluate mechanical properties and is highly regarded within the geotechnical engineering design sector. The role of Commissioning and Quality Engineer is a key role that ensures our clients equipment is fit for purpose. The role will develop a detailed knowledge of equipment and its operation. Training will be provided. The Engineer must maintain a safe working area under supervision of the Geotechnical Systems Manager / Commissioning and Quality Team Leader. A professional attitude with a high standard of personal presentation and excellent communication skills is demanded. The role is varied and requires the appointee to be self-organised, methodical, keen to handle multiple tasks and flexible in their approach to work. The engineer will report to the Commissioning and Quality Team Lead on most cases and the Geotechnical Systems Manager when required.
Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To:
• Commission products within required dates and to the highest quality
standards.
• Carry out initial testing alongside commissioning on designated products.
• Ensure all build procedures are followed: ensuring standards of work are
maintained – Provide updates for production build procedures and report on
any changes, which are required for future builds.
• System assembly and QA testing for customer orders ready for shipment.
• Recording and updating of documentation associated with QA and customer
orders.
• Evaluate and conduct repairs on returned equipment and systems, using
company procedures to manage the repairs workflow.
• Perform in house calibrations and sanity checks.
• Liaise with the Geotechnical Systems Engineers to develop testing capabilities
for products and provide feedback to production and design teams for possible
improvements in manufacturing.
• Preparation, maintenance and implementation of internal and external
technical procedures, help-sheets and boilerplates.
• De-bug and problem solve issues with products both at the client and in the
field via on-site support. Maintaining non-conformance records as appropriate.
• Be fully aware of Health and Safety requirements and ensure safe working at
all times within team(s).
Personal Attributes:
• Experience within an engineering environment. Preferably Materials,
Electronics, Mechanical. A degree or HNC in a related engineering field is an
advantage.
• A basic understanding and confidence to work with electronic/electrical
components and systems.
• Ability to think logically and fault find software, mechanical and electrical
issues.
• Ideally, previous experience or general knowledge of sensors, transducers and
electro- mechanical systems would be an advantage.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand
manuals, schematics, plans and specifications would be an advantage.
• Ability to quickly learn in-house developed software packages.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills in English, both oral and
written.
• The capability to independently manage time and prioritise work whilst
maintaining agreed deadlines.
• A flexible approach to work and be prepared to work with any member of the
team.
• The desire to learn new ideas and concepts.
• Experience of Microsoft office for report writing and scientific data
interpretation.
• Must have a high standard of housekeeping, cleanliness and tidiness.
