The Simulation Services Team is part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust's Learning and Development Department and delivers expert multidisciplinary healthcare training, using a variety of interactive human patient simulators, manikins and standardised participants/actors to provide clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals with the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perfect simple tasks to highly complex procedures and teamwork.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about providing high quality Simulation Based Education (SBE) to continue to develop and co-ordinate the Simulation Programme within Weston General Hospital.
This is a varied and challenging role and would suit someone who is highly motivated, enjoys collaborative working and is committed to improving patient safety.
Working closely with nursing, clinical and non-clinical leads within the Weston Division, the post holder will have an enthusiasm for, and some experience in, healthcare teaching and providing Simulation Based Education.
This is a Weston based role, but some travel to Bristol will be required. This post is funded for 7.5 hours per week (0.2 WTE). Working pattern will be negotiated with the successful applicant, but ideally would be on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.
Main duties of the job
1. Take a lead role in the planning, organisation and delivery of the Weston Simulation Programme supporting Weston General Hospital staff and patients, including expanding and developing Point-of-Care simulation in wards and departments across Weston sites.
2. Take a lead in supporting the development and evaluation of courses / education programmes delivered by the Simulation Programme, the Simulation Services Department and its stakeholders.
3. Contribute to the development of simulation courses tailored to meet individual teams / clinical areas identified training needs.
4. Take a lead in mapping clinical governance and risk management issues to simulation events.
5. Take a proactive role in the development and education of simulation course Faculty members.
6. Act as a resource person for other members of the Simulation Services staff.
7. Support other activities of the Simulation Services Department, including courses run at the Simulation Centre, the Adult and Paediatric Simulation Programmes and Community Outreach projects.
8. Support and manage other members of the Simulation Services team as required, deputising for the Lead Educator as necessary.
9. Provide robust evaluation reports for courses delivered as part of the Weston Simulation training programme and ensure outcomes are actioned and courses reviewed in a timely manner.

* Willingness and ability to travel to other locations, external to the Trust, possibly outside of core working hours and with overnight stays (infrequent and after discussion with line manager)
Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse/Allied Healthcare Professional or other clinical professional equivalent qualification
* Simulation instructors course, or equivalent (or willingness to undertake)
* Educated to Diploma/Degree level (or working towards this)
* ALS/EPALS/APLS/PILS/ILS
* Teaching qualification
