Main duties of the job
We are offering an opportunity for a motivated individual to work in the busy environment of Outpatients, based across two separate sites: Hospital Llandough and University Hospital of Wales. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a rotational basis depending on service and/or professional development needs. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an interest within the different specialties. Opportunities will also be given to work within a number of different specialties which currently include General Medicine, Rheumatology, Respiratory, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Immunology, Surgery (General, Colorectal, Vascular and Plastic), and Haematology; the list is not exhaustive. Exposure to such a broad spectrum of specialties offers the opportunity to acquire many new skills and continually develop learning, supported through a combination of bespoke training and practical on-the-job tuition. Good communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to work as part of a team, are essential. Knowledge of outpatient work would be useful, but training and support will be provided. Commitment to professional development must be demonstrated. Due to increasing demands on the service, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
