Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time.
Recruitment Profile
You will contribute to all aspects of childcare and education in the Nursery class and take an active part in other appropriate duties as required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Contribute through team meetings to the long, medium and short term planning process of all aspects of the curriculum in line with local and national guidelines to meet the needs of the individual child in a socially inclusive setting.
2. As part of the nursery team, implement plans to deliver an effective early years service to individual children and groups of children by:
* Setting up and preparing materials for planned nursery activities
* Carrying out planned nursery activities with various groups of children
* Clearing up after planned nursery activities to ensure materials and equipment are well cared for and stored properly
* Providing general ongoing supervision to ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment for children
* Encouraging children in the development of good personal hygiene and providing assistance to individuals as necessary
1. Observe, record observations and contribute to evaluations and formal reporting on individual children's progress within the transition record, in line with SBC's policy and procedures.
2. Liaise with parents, members of multi-disciplinary teams, other establishments and agencies, individually or in conjunction with the teacher as appropriate.
3. Provide day-to-day support and guidance to assist in developing college students on placement, trainees and newly appointed nursery nurses, providing input to reports on progress through discussion with the teacher.
4. Keep up-to-date with early years curriculum and initiatives and participate in appropriate training and development in line with SBC policy and procedures.
This profile is indicative of the nature and level of responsibility associated with the post. It is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake such other duties as may be required by the Service Director to meet the needs and responsibility of the Service and the Council.
Essential Qualifications
At least one of the following qualifications is required:
* HNC in Childhood Practice/Childcare & Education
* SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 7 / SVQ 3 Children's Care, Learning & Development
* Applicants with an SNNEB/NNEB may be considered where they can evidence a record of ongoing CPD during the past 5 years
All successful applicants for early learning and childcare posts will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of appointment and maintain registration throughout the period of employment.
