We are looking for a Senior Strategy Manager to join the Group Strategy team, part of the CEO's office.
We are a dynamic and collaborative team with a direct influence on the future of Royal London as a purpose-led and outcomes-focussed mutual. We inform and influence strategic decisions, typically working with senior leaders and subject matter experts across the business to make this happen. You will play an exciting and important role in supporting Royal London to achieve its Purpose and deliver its strategy.
Key responsibilities will include maintaining and demonstrating a strong knowledge of what is happening in the external environment and understanding how the business needs to respond. You will lead insight-led strategic projects to explore opportunities and challenges and make strategic recommendations; contribute to the annual strategy review process; and help embed an understanding of the shared responsibility our colleagues across the business have in achieving our Purpose and delivering our strategy.
About the role
* Lead strategy projects, working with a cross-functional group of subject matter experts.
* Work closely with research and insight teams to ensure strategic recommendations are supported by robust insight.
* Use strategy tools and frameworks to support strategic thinking and effective challenge.
* Make strategic recommendations to the Executive and Board, with clear alignment to our Purpose.
* Coach more junior members of the team to develop their understanding of Royal London, the external environment, and strategic thinking.
* Support business areas with local strategy projects, providing expertise as required.
* Manage internal processes, including the annual strategy review, strategic risk management, strategy execution and strategy communication to colleagues across the business.
About you
* Proven experience in leading strategy development and execution.
* Strength in understanding customer needs and expectations, along with market trends, and develop this into strategic recommendations for Royal London.
* Curiosity and experience in using data and insight to inform strategic thinking and recommendations.
* Ability to identify the story and articulate key issues from complex topics, making recommendations in a concise and compelling way.
* A desire to work for a truly purpose-driven organisation with alignment to the Spirit of Royal London values - we achieve, we are trustworthy, we are empowered, we collaborate.
* Strong understanding of the risk management framework.
* Experience working in Financial Services; experience in the long-term savings, insurance and asset management industry would be beneficial.
