We offer fantastic benefits here Where you will be working Encyclis Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is located near Stewartby in Bedfordshire, just a few minutes off the M1 Motorway and only 20 minutes from Milton Keynes central. This impressive three-line facility has been operational since January 2022 and has the capacity to process 585,000 tonnes of residual waste annually, delivering sustainable electricity to meet the needs of around 112,000 homes. The Opportunity Reporting to the Operations Director, the Plant Manager is the overall responsible person for the operation of the plant. They will provide exceptional leadership; they will guide, empower and collaborate with operating teams, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that the plant meets the agreed performance, environmental and health and safety standards. You will drive improvements in efficiency and lead updates to policies and procedures where necessary, whilst ensuring our Safety Rules, programmes and regulatory requirements are fully adhered to. You will ensure the training and development of staff is conducted in an efficient and timely manner, including ensuring any mandatory training or role-required training is completed and documented. Operational Leadership Core to the role is ensuring the delivery of annual plant production and KPI's, whilst working safely. You will ensure a consistent and integrated approach to the operation and maintenance of the plant through effective planning, excellent communication and sharing of information and processes, development of contingency plans and follow through on effective execution of plans. Maintaining compliance and ethical standards, using reporting metrics (e.g. production, operating statistics, staffing costs and other operating expenses), driving maintenance improvements (process, system utilisation, execution and quality) and being responsive and a mentor to site personnel will all play a pivotal part of ensuring operational excellence. Continuous Improvement, Supplier and Cost Management We expect our Plant Manager to continuously explore opportunities for operational efficiencies, including reviewing overtime/temporary labour costs. You will be working closely with Procurement, Finance and the Production and Continuous Improvement Team, liaising with technical experts to drive cost efficiencies during planned outages, and providing leadership and support to site management to ensure costs are aligned to the maintenance budget. Engineering and Projects You will be supporting the planning, development, and implementation of facility and system design improvements, whilst maintaining an understanding of the technology, the business, and the competition. The exciting developments within Encyclis will also result in your support with development projects to test and implement new technologies, such as Carbon Capture and District Heating. What we need from you Professional experience & qualifications A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a leadership role, as well as experience leading operations and maintenance execution. You will have a track record of outage/maintenance execution, leading and motivating teams, managing tightly against performance commitments and be strongly committed to developing a high-performance culture. Technical Degree / Diploma / Certificate and/or equivalent experience. An undergraduate degree in engineering or another technical degree is considered an advantage. 5 years in Senior Operations Management. 5 years in maintenance and Capex execution. 5 years in plant or field operations/maintenance experience.
