About the role As a Trainee Engineer you will gain practical experience in the workforce whilst completing your Engineering degree. Trainee Engineers will rotate between Council’s Design, Traffic and Transport, Development Engineering and Strategic Asset Management departments for the purpose of learning different aspects of Engineering and gaining exposure in various positions in Local Government. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is keen to learn, able to work as part of a team and willing to develop skills across all areas of Local Government Engineering. In this position, you will be required to work full-time (35 hours per week); we will provide you with access to study leave, financial educational assistance and flexible working arrangements that will allow you to continue to study part-time (as a minimum) and achieve a work/study/life balance. Employment as a Trainee Engineer is temporary and will cease at the completion of the qualification in which you are currently enrolled. Essential criteria Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Degree and successfully completed at least the first year, but not in the final year of study (at the time of commencement in the position) Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Computer skills – particularly with Microsoft Office Programs Current Class C Driver licence. Commencing salary: $43,371.00 - $63,175.00 per annum, dependent upon progression through enrolled course of study and level of experience, plus 11.5% Superannuation.
