We are seeking a part-time Associate Specialist Doctor to cover a 28-bed Community Facing Rehabilitation and Recovery service.
You will be part of a well-established and cohesive multi-disciplinary team which includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, Principal Psychologist, Senior Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Ward Manager, and Recovery Support Workers.
As an Associate Specialist Doctor, you will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide continuous medical cover on a daily basis to the patients on the ward.
Alongside the Consultant, you will care for 28 patients, referred to the unit usually from local NHS trusts. During working hours, you will be responsible for patients and reviewing their mental/physical well-being.
Assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis, and treatment under Consultant supervision for each patient will be reassessed at a frequency appropriate to their individual clinical needs and sufficient to monitor changes and make timely modifications to the treatment plan.
Requirements
1. Full GMC registration
2. 12 months’ adult psychiatry experience
3. Relevant experience within a similar setting (preferred)
4. Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred)
5. Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) and Code of Practice along with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
6. The ability to interview, assess and treat patients and write clear comprehensive medical notes
7. Proven record of CPD
8. Desirable: Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, General Practitioners or equivalent.
