Cooneen are hiring a Product Design Engineer to specialise in the design of body armour covers. This is a newly created position, and additional headcount to add to our experienced team. Responsibilities Engineer and create products to meet the needs of our customers either though face to face engagement or from build to print documents. Taking ownership of the project and controlling each element such as fabric choice, fit, function, continual improvement through feedback, end user engagement and customer visits. Advising the in-house team of sample machinists and taking a hands on attitude. Set up fabric and trim library in the technical office and ensuring each component meets the customer and testing requirements. With the inhouse Technical team, choose the most suitable fabric and trims for the products to be designed ensuring that the customer requirements are met and key tests are conducted and analysed. With the inhouse Pattern Making team, create the graded size charts for all products that provide the product size roll for the customer and for use in the quality control of the product, review and prove fit by means of in-house tests for example. With the Sample team and sourcing offices, ensure the products developed have all features and function necessary the meets the needs of our customers and keep within an agreed budget. Create product specifications for customer and production use. Meet with customers and discuss product improvements. Identify areas of potential development in product or customer base. To identify opportunities for improving the method of operation in your area of responsibility. Any other duties deemed necessary by management Observe all Company Rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Harassment, Disciplinary and ICT Security. Requirements Essential: Experience of engineering clothing products in line with the end user requirements. Proven track record of garment technology, preferably within a manufacturing setting. Experience of computerized design or pattern packages, i.e Gerber/Illustrator / Photoshop. Experienced in the use of MS office, particularly MS Word & Excel. Must have experience of customer liaisons and fit meetings Ability to travel within the UK and further afield. Willing if required, to undertake a CRB Check. Desirable: HND or Degree in a design or clothing discipline or equivalent. QC experience of garments & fabric. A technology related qualification.
