Job summary This post is fixed term for 12 months due to - meet the needs of the service The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. The role will be based at both our Bridgend and Newport sites. The role is based within the Physical Testing Laboratory and will involve testing of medical devices for the NHS in Wales and commercial clients. The role will require working to a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited quality system. The duties will include sample handling and testing samples such as surgical materials, dressings, and medical/surgical devices using a variety of techniques. Main duties of the job The postholder will test medical devices for the Welsh NHS and industry to assess whether devices placed on contract/market are safe for us on patients.Maintain records of their current training for audit purpose and ensure that confidential/sensitive information if deal with appropriately according to policies/legislation. The postholder should be aware and comply with COSHH regulations, participate in risk assessments, review hazard data sheets and internal specifications. They will be familiar with departmental Health and Safety Regulations for their own work area and ensure compliance. Implement, follow, validate and write internal SOP's/TM's as laid down in the QMS. Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure laboratory tidiness and cleanliness. Take responsibility for checking and maintaining the supply of laboratory consumables, including chemical stock. Keep accurate and detailed records concerning test samples, methods used and results obtained. Use their ability to interpret British, European and International Standards (BS, EN and ISO) to determine if testing can be conducted. Helps to plan and participate weekly/monthly rotas for regularly schedules and general laboratory tasks.
