Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Mechanical Designer Modular located in Blackburn, UK.
What a typical day looks like:
1. Utilise Autodesk software such as Inventor, Vault, Nastran, and other tools to turn ideas into physical assemblies ready for prototype testing, production, and manufacture
2. Develop and maintain comprehensive 3D mechanical designs of plant page rooms (Power POD’s) inclusive of bespoke installations to incorporate specific lighting, security, fire protection / detection systems, heating, and air conditioning requirements ready for production / fabrication purposes
3. Introduce technologies & technique such as i-Logic to within the design stage to support cost effective and robust product solutions
4. Run internal FEM calculations and verify through external structural engineers
5. Manage and assist with all necessary product testing and verification in accordance with relevant national and global product standards.
6. Produce technical documents to support product specifications
7. Liaise with external suppliers to identify optimum materials and manufacturing
8. Create a full comprehensive BOM to issue to supply chain ready for ordering inclusive of Steel sections, Cladding, flooring, fixings etc
9. Assisting with Shop Floor operations, inclusive of including construction techniques
10. Generating detailed engineering, production, and assembly drawing packs for in-house or external manufacture inclusive of full bill of materials ensuring all documents are controlled and accurate at all times
11. Work on multiple projects efficiently, delivering to tight deadlines and keeping to budgets
12. Collaborating with sales and marketing to develop product specifications and provide visual and technical content
13. Reporting and presenting to Engineering management and stakeholders
14. Management and organisation of available business resources
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
15. Candidates must have mechanical background
16. Candidates must be proficient in the day to day use of Microsoft based operating systems and the Office suite (Outlook / Word / Excel), Autocad, Revit etc.
17. Candidates must have the ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
