Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to be able to continue its successful ST1/2 level trust doctor post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 23/24.
The Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest specialist obstetric and gynaecological units in Europe. In its own right, the Trust has an enviable record of research activity in Gynaecology, Neonatology and Reproductive Medicine as well as Obstetric Anaesthesia.
The post is full time and provides a variety of experience across O&G to provide a taster of the specialty. It is particularly suitable for junior doctors considering a career in O&G, and contemplating a FY3 year or who wish to increase their experience. Clinical supervision will be the responsibility of the RCOG tutors who will allocate a clinical educational supervisor.
The duties consist of clerking elective and emergency admissions, antenatal and postoperative care on the wards, and intrapartum care on delivery suite. There is opportunity to gain experience attending outpatient clinics and operating theatres, for both Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Clinical research and audit is encouraged.
You will be expected to take part in regular teaching sessions with other GP, Foundation level 2 or ST1/2 doctors as appropriate. There are also educational opportunities available from attending CTG training, incident reveiws and MDTs in various specialities (perinatal medicine, obstetric medicine, oncology, Uro-gynaecology and Endoscopic surgery) as well as clinical governance activities.
On call cover includes Acute obstetrics and gynaecological emergencies as per full shift on call rota.

All Junior grade doctors are provided with a template time table which is used to plan clinical sessions on a week by week basis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in obstetric and gynaecology Theatre sessions, gynaecology and antenatal clinics as well as delivery suite and gynaecology emergency room sessions. Doctors are expected to comply with GMC good medical practice.
Depending on duration of post and the educational needs of the successful applicant a structured programme of training will be devised to allow them to achieve necessary competencies.
There will be opportunities to attend in house teaching and multidisciplinary sessions.
